An open door and a trusted room are not the same thing, and after twenty years we would rather have the latter.
Most people assume that a private community is about keeping people out. It is a reasonable assumption and an entirely wrong one. Privacy is not a wall. It is what a room requires in order to relax. WAX by Killing Kittens has launched, and it is no longer an app. It is the home of the Killing Kittens world; a private members’ community for people who know that life is richer when lived with curiosity, connection and appetite.
What changed
For more than twenty years, Killing Kittens has stood for one thing above all others: the freedom to explore pleasure, connection and oneself without fear, shame or judgement. What began as a bold idea became a global community, and as it grew it became clear that WAX needed to be more than somewhere to browse. Members said as much, consistently. They wanted something more genuine with deeper conversations, better connections, a room in which people were present because they had chosen to be rather than because the download was free. So the download is no longer the way in.
Why membership, and not access
WAX by Killing Kittens is now members-only, deliberately. The best communities are built on commitment rather than convenience, and when everyone has invested in belonging, everyone benefits from it. It allows us to verify members properly, to keep investing in the platform, and to hold the standard that has always made Killing Kittens different. Trust is not a feature that can be added later. It is a consequence of who is in the room and how they came to be there. Every application is reviewed. Every member is verified. What follows is the freedom, to speak plainly, to be met as yourself, to arrive somewhere already knowing something true about everyone in it. This is not a barrier. It is the architecture of belonging.
What the membership holds
Everything the KK world offers now sits under one membership: the parties, the curated socials, the workshops and retreats, luxury travel, and the communities that carry the whole thing between events. Members are not using an app. They are inside a world built on shared values and trust.
The point of it
This is not a rebrand. It is the next chapter of a stronger community, a more trusted space, a more connected world resting on the single decision that made the rest of it possible. Quality before quantity. Connection before endless swiping. A door, and a good reason for it.
